What is a Christmas Jar?

What is a Christmas Jar (Click on Label above to view/download full size)?

A Christmas Jar is a pickle jar, peanut butter jar, Mason jar or whatever else you have around to collect your spare change each day. All coins are dedicated to the jar, and during the week before Christmas you prayerfully select someone to give it to anonymously. Was a neighbor laid off? Is a coworker struggling with health problems? Has a friend lost a loved one? Simply put your jar on their porch, in their car, on their desk--wherever--and you could change their life for good!

$50, $100, even $200, you'll be surprised how much change you can generate and how much you can affect someone's life. What began as an experiment by the author’s, Jason Wright, family has now turned into a national “pay it forward” movement of giving. Will you pledge to give away a Christmas Jar this year?

If so, please use the label below. You can also add your star to The Christmas Jars national map, at map@christmasjars.com, and find information about the book, The Christmas Jars, by Jason Wright. A short, wonderful read that will change your life. With our very best wishes, the Shipp family.

We would love to receive a photo of you holding your Christmas Jar!

PS: Please do not send flowers. Patsy would prefer you start a Christmas Jar each year in her name.

  1. Craig,

What a wonderful idea. I'm sorry that I didn't know you personally, but, I knew and loved your Mom very much. Both she and Ralph have warmed out hearts over the years. How could I get in touch with your father? Would love to call or email him?

We knew your parents when they were first baptized in to the LDS Church in Olney years ago. It was always a delight when they returned to the ward for visits after moving to North Carolina.

Your family is in our hearts and prayers.

    John Cobb
